Penn E. Wise - Fall 2009
Announcing Penn East FCU's Updated Home Banking Program & CheckFree Bill Pay Service
Starting November 5th, Penn East FCU will be
offering new online services. You will notice
changes to our current Home Banking program.
Our new Home Banking has been designed to be
more user-friendly and offer additional services.
You will still be able to safely and securely check
account balances, transfer funds and view account
history right from www.penneastfcu.org. Always
on the go? Take Penn East FCU with you! Now
you can access Home Banking through your PDA
or cell phone with Internet capabilities. Worried
about low balances in your accounts? Home
Banking will now allow you to generate reminder
alerts on your accounts when your balance drops
below a pre-determined amount.
Want to sign up for Home Banking? Look for
the link that says "enroll now" and follow the
instructions. It's that easy! Already enrolled in
Home Banking but are interested in the new
features? Your account will automatically be
converted to the new system, requiring you to do
nothing! So sit back and relax knowing that you
can access your account at Penn East FCU from
anywhere, anytime.
Bill Pay will also have a new look, as we proudly
announce the addition of CheckFree to our
online services. This comprehensive, cutting edge
program makes viewing and paying your bills
online a cinch! Plus, as an added bonus of being a
Penn East FCU member, CheckFree Bill Pay will
now be offered to you for FREE.
Protect your credit and never miss another
payment due date. Go green, save time and
stamps by paying your bills online each and every
month. What are you waiting for? Sign up for
CheckFree Bill Pay online through your Home
Banking Account today!
Don't forget about E-Statements. Replacing paper
statements with electronic versions allows you
to reduce the flow of personal information from
your mailbox, where paper mail can be a target
for theft. When your E-Statement is ready to be
viewed, you will receive an email notification
to log into your account in Home Banking to
retrieve it. Statements are even stored online
for 12 months, so you can look up any of the
information you need anytime!

Good Luck To Our Interns
You may have noticed many new faces at Penn East FCU this summer. We were pleased to have four
student interns! Samantha Irving, Jason McManamon and Molly Klusek worked in our Scranton office
while Makayla McCauley worked in the Clarks Summit office.
Samantha spent her time in the Marketing Department. She worked hard designing
new brochures that you will see in the offices soon. Samantha is from Fleetville and
is a graphic design student at the Antonelli Institute.
"I have enjoyed the projects I worked on such as print ads and brochures. I look
forward to seeing them in action!"
Jason is from Clarks Summit and worked as a teller this summer. Jason attends
Millersville University where he studies psychology. After he graduates this Spring,
he plans to continue his education at graduate school.
"This summer has been a great experience but most of all I will miss all of the
wonderful people (members and fellow employees) I have met."
This was Molly's second summer at Penn East FCU. This year she worked as a
teller. Molly graduated from The University of Scranton in June with a degree in
Accounting. Molly is continuing her education to become a C.P.A.
"I now understand that each member at Penn East FCU is much more than a
customer or just another person with an account number. Each member is integral,
adding to the comfortable and welcoming atmosphere at Penn East FCU."
Makayla is from Scranton and worked completing transactions on the teller line. She
graduated from Scranton High in June and is excited to attend Lackawanna College
this fall to major in early education.
"I enjoyed working at Penn East FCU most because of the people. Everyone is friendly
and nice! Overall it was a good experience."

Identity Theft Alert!
New Swine Flu Scam
The swine flu headlines have prompted scammers to create a "swine flu" e-mail that they've sent
out en masse. One e-mail, for example, contained the subject line "Suspected Mexican flu toll hits
81" and contained several links that led to news reports about the flu. However, the body of the
e-mail also contained links asking victims to provide personal information - which in turn was
sent to the scammers.
How To Protect Yourself
If you receive an e-mail regarding the swine flu and you are sent to a website asking for
personal information, close your web browser immediately. Do not enter your information
on the site.
For more tips on protecting yourself against identity theft, visit www.idtheft.gov.
